• Taurikura Ora

This programme is specifically designed to restore wellbeing, regulate stress and sustain educators in their profession. Taurkura Ora is phased in three stages, in alignment with Dr Kerry Makin-Bryd's "Soothe-Transcend-Move" model of burnout recovery, and uses practical, easily implementable practices that have been adapted from the research in compassion science, resilience and health recovery.

Phase 1: Creating safety and reducing overload

    Course dates:

    20 March 2026: 9.30am - 2.30pm

    01 May 2026: 9.30am - 2.30pm

    Content:

The first phase of the programme focuses on restoring a sense of safety, calm, and stability in the face of ongoing stress.

Teachers are supported to understand burnout and emotional load through a psychological lens, recognising these experiences as natural human responses to sustained pressure rather than personal shortcomings.

This phase introduces practical, evidence-based strategies to calm the nervous system, reduce overwhelm, and support emotional regulation during real-world teaching and leadership challenges.

Participants learn how to respond thoughtfully rather than reactively, manage strong emotions in the moment, and protect their energy throughout the school day — laying the foundation for recovery, resilience, and sustainable wellbeing.

Phase 2: Making meaning and rebuilding strength

    Course dates:

    19 June 2026: 9.30am - 2.30pm

    07 August 2026: 9.30am - 2.30pm

    Content:

The second phase supports teachers to move beyond survival mode and reconnect with meaning, identity, and inner strength.

Participants explore how prolonged stress and burnout can erode professional confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of purpose — and how these can be intentionally rebuilt.

This phase addresses the hidden emotional pressures of teaching, including guilt, over-responsibility, and blurred boundaries, and supports educators to develop healthier, more sustainable ways of caring for others without sacrificing themselves.

Drawing on evidence-based psychological models, teachers learn what resilience really looks like in practice — not as “pushing through,” but as recovery, self-compassion, connection, and values-aligned action.

Phase 3: Integrating Change and Sustaining Well-being

    Course dates:

    04 September 2026: 9.30am - 2.30pm

    13 November 2026: 9.30am - 2.30pm

    Content:

The final phase focuses on integration, sustainability, and forward momentum.

Teachers are supported to recognise early warning signs of stress overload and burnout, and to develop personalised strategies for protecting wellbeing during high-pressure periods such as busy terms, reporting cycles, or leadership transitions.

This phase brings together learning from across the programme, supporting participants to create a realistic, ongoing approach to self-leadership, emotional regulation, and wellbeing.

Teachers leave with greater clarity, confidence, and practical tools they can continue to use long-term — enabling them to sustain themselves in the profession while leading learning and people with intention and care.
